The site is not the portfolio. It is the room the portfolio hangs in.
Christoph Herrmann is a Berlin art director and brand designer working across identity, web, packaging, illustration and editorial design. His portfolio site had to present that work in German and English without ever competing with it.
A portfolio is the one site where the design has to lose to its own content. I built it restrained: a grey ground, one sans, a drawn hero that shifts colour on every visit, then a numbered project carousel, a portfolio table sorted by year and a project page that walks through client, mission and realisation. Scroll-driven transitions and animation pace the reading rather than decorate it.
Two languages on one structure — German first, English alongside — with a project taxonomy that filters fourteen disciplines across fifteen projects.
